It’s true, the majority of us prefer to work from the comfort of our own homes. Many of us have been given the opportunity to work remotely, especially after enduring the challenging and gruelling pandemic. Working remotely or becoming a digital nomad can be extremely beneficial to many people, one of the benefits being no longer having to leave home at the crack of dawn to beat morning traffic; instead, you have those few extra hours to enjoy breakfast with the family or a simple cup of coffee. Here are a few ways in which you can pursue a career online.

Take a course on a career that allows for remote working. Here is a list of potential online careers:

  1. Online Tutor
  2. Search Engine Optimization Specialist
  3. Social Media Manager
  4. Freelance Writer
  5. Virtual Assistant
  6. Web Designer
  7. Data Scientist
  8. Online Personal Trainer
  9. Software Developer
  10. Recruitment Specialist

Some of you may already have your degree and be a specialist in your field, or you may even have your own practice and/or company. However, this doesn’t stop you from pursuing a career online, many companies and practices have gone virtual. There are many professions that don’t actually require face-to-face interaction.

Here is a list of professions that have recently gone virtual:

  1. Speech Therapists
  2. Psychologists
  3. Accountants and Financial Mangers
  4. Investment, Asset, Portfolio and Account Managers

During the pandemic, many consumers discovered the convenience of e-commerce and other online activities, and statistics show that consumers will continue to use digital channels even after things return to normal. This has made the decision to pursue a career online much easier, people much prefer doing things in the comfort of their own home as opposed to a crowded space.

The pandemic has demonstrated how quickly our worlds can turn upside down. It has been recorded that the lockdown caused 114 million people to lose their jobs and thousands of companies to close permanently. This was certainly an eye-opener to many people to opt for remote work.

Many people today base their career choices on one question: will I be able to continue working if we have another lockdown?

There are plenty of benefits that come with working remotely, here are a few examples:

Freedom and Flexibility:

Remote workers can schedule their days to accommodate both their home and work lives as long as they work the assigned hours at the assigned times. Instead of having to ask for permission to fit in with other team members, having the freedom to attend medical appointments or go grocery shopping can certainly lighten the load.

Cost Saving:

Traveling to work can be expensive; there are travel costs, lunch, snacks, birthday cakes, gifts for co-workers, work clothing, and so much more. Working remotely allows you to save money that would otherwise be spent on all of these unnecessary items.

Overall, whether you’d enjoy those few extra moments with your kids or have the luxury of working on an island, pursuing a career online is definitely for you.
